I I had a spare 6G drive, it wouldn't be orphaned; most of my machines
are running 4G or smaller. The wife gets the hot new stuff and I get
her hand-me-downs.

For example, I dragged her old 486 into the office to scavenge parts from
it and wound up stuffing a couple of Ethernets into it, installing
FreeBSD, and using it for the unofficial office firewall.
