Thanks for the review. It takes me back to my days
studying and teaching that stuff back in my Bank of
America and Pacific Bell consulting days. The
memories are a little stale for me after all
these years working with Chuck and focusing
on different things.

I was jazzed about X.25.PC back in 84, a nice
asychronous implementation that could be used
on PC before the internet days. I wanted to
use it to expand my multi-player 3D out the
window SpaceWar game (Forth) to more players over
my one dailup line.

I have not discussed the problems of how to
improve today's protocols before and the
thread has been educational for me.

I remember OSI 7 in 82. I guess the TPC/IP goes back
a lot more than that. It seems like there must be lots
of room for an improved standard, but changing the
systems is something else.

Thanks for an excellent overview and tutorial
about the evolution of various standards.
