[colorforth] CF in Bochs on a Tecra (corrections)

Alex,

I'm resending this so it will be on the colorforth
list and correcting some of my earlier details.
There's also more on performance and useability at the
bottom.

What I'm trying at the moment is:

bochs 2.0.2 from source with --enable-vbe and
--enable-idle-hack

.bochsrc just the minimal setup. I haven't tried to
many tweaks yet. So the following are the lines I
modified to point to your same image and ROMS.

floppya: 1_44="fd.img", status=inserted
romimage: file=BIOS-bochs-latest, address=0xf0000
vgaromimage: VGABIOS-lgpl-latest

linux 2.4.20-8 I'm going to upgrade the kernel next
weekend. I'll let you know how that goes.

The contents of bx.c4th.tgz from your page.

All of this is running on a 1.7GHz Toshiba Tecra
9100 with 768M ram and a S3 Savage/IX with 8M video
ram.

Even with the idle hack it seems to be running the CPU
at 95% or so. The Tecra can only handle a 1024x768
screen so the bottom 2 or 3 text lines of the CF
display are cutoff. CF is very sluggish with this
configuration so far. Gnome will not let me pan the
display to see the bottom lines. As I recall, fvwm did
so I may try that to keep going.
