Howerd, Tim here.

What is basically needed is an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client.
here are some of the of the packages that I have been told about.

These channels are up all the time, as we are spread around the globe a bit,
someone is almost always awake...

The server in this case is now irc.freenode.net.
The client you choose will need to know this.

There are not many rules in general, we do ask that non topic stuff be done
on #c4th-ot. The #c4th channel is logged and made available to the web.
the url for this is http://herkamire.com/c4thlogs/

Unix/Linux	irssi or one of the many...
Apple pre OSX ircle
Apple OSX fire, or fink & irssi, or ircle
cf cfvt52 with irssi, to a unix machine over serial.
Windows xchat, or tinyIRC or mIrc, or winIRC
browser most irc networks have a web based interface as well.

Here is some info over these packages.

Irssi: open source http://irssi.org
Fire: open source http://fire.sf.net
mIrc: shareware 30 day trial http://mirc.org
xchat: open source http://xchat.org
cfvt52: public domain http://www.dnd.utwente.nl/~tim/colorforth/cfvt52
tinyIRC: http://www.tinyirc.net

The browser solution is sometimes handy, but as a real irc client it scores
low.

Let us know if more info is needed, we will gladly help.

With kind regards,

Tim Neitz.
