   other things, by forbidding submissions by non-subscribers. The
   policy has been changed since then.

Ahh!  That explains why I didn't get a bounce message explaining that
I couldn't send to the list from this email address.

Um... a better solution (in my opinion) would have been to put a block
on the specific address which was causing the mail loop.  This limits
the damage without limiting the list as a whole.
