Vic and Eugene Leitl, have a look at.
http://www.amiga.com/press/zine/4-17-00/AW1.htm
Believe it or not the new Amiga OS is based on Toas and sits ontop of Linux,
and have a database file system that sounds simular to Be-os. The location
resource abstraction layer is excellent and Java compatability seem to make
MS Windows NT/CE look a bit dated.
Yes this is an OS I could buy and support. Even the Java engine runs at
around 50k compiled from there Virtual code, a good conversion for Misc (it
will eun slowly but it will run).
For the person looking at making a Mips based machine this would be an
excellent choice.
Read the articles sounds simular to the objectives (design and technologies)
I had for my OS scheme.
Vic-
-Although my target applications typically require real-time signal
-processing and visual graphics, the "excess transistors" neccessary
-to meet the performance requirements can be implemented as
-specialized I/O co-processors, i.e. a MISC CPU core can still run -theshow.
This is exactlyy what I'm depending on in my own thinking to reduce the
instruction set to a controller function and transfer streamilined high
powered needs to streamline minimised hardware systems.
Have to leave.
Wayne
